About Us

U3As can be found across the world, and are voluntary Seniors’ Groups that provide educational, recreational and social programs. Each U3A is organised by and for people who can best be described as being active in retirement or semi-retirement, the third age of our lives.

U3A Apollo Bay

U3A Apollo Bay is an entirely voluntary organisation in a beautiful beach location in Victoria. Apollo Bay is a small (but growing) town of approximately 1200 residents, and we have about 100 members. Our presenters share their particular interests or hobbies or a skill with members.  The best part of U3A is that you don’t have to be an expert, just know a little and enjoy a lot, and be prepared to share what you know.  It is amazing what a rich range of courses, activities and events we have had over the years.

U3A Apollo Bay was established in 2014 for people in their third age who are over the age of 50 and could be retired or semi-retired. Our Mission is to provide opportunities for seniors to learn, teach, share and to give mutual support to each other in a friendly and warm environment, regardless or ethnicity, religion, ability or disability. The U3A Apollo Bay purpose is to ‘Share the Fun of Learning’. We aim to encourage mature aged residents to become members and to provide our members with classes, courses and activities which contribute to life long learning and healthy ageing. Members are encouraged and supported to develop and share their knowledge and skills in a sociable, relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Who can join?

U3A Apollo Bay is open to anyone who is retired or no longer working full time. No qualifications are required to join. Our courses are non-competitive, without marks or exams. We focus on enabling members to expand their knowledge in existing areas, and to explore new fields and activities.
